About Grove Hill Rural Emergency Hospital

GHREH serves patients in Clarke and surrounding counties.

South Alabama Infirmary, now Grove Hill Rural Emergency Hospital, was founded in 1949, by Dr. Ralph Dewey Neal, Sr. The hospital name was changed in 1961. A new hospital was constructed in 1970 and is owned by the Town of Grove Hill.

We also own and operate two Rural Health Clinics in Grove Hill on our campus.

We strive to become our community’s first choice for health care by delivering exceptional, holistic, preventive, and acute care services while ensuring an unparalleled experience for every patient under our care.

Our hospitalist is Dr. Thomas Broughton. He has been with GHREH since 2016. He graduated from Alabama A&M University with his undergraduate degree and attended St. Matthews University for medical school.

Our Medical Records department is available Monday to Thursday from 7 am until 4 pm and on Friday from 7 am to 11 am. You can call them at (251) 275-4040, fax them at (251) 275-4289.
